Foundations Dyslexia and Learning Centers offer a tier-based evaluation system as well as tutoring and progress monitoring to meet your individual needs.
Please note: insurance typically does not pay for services related to dyslexia. However, check with your insurance provider to determine if services may be covered. Foundations can provide a statement to submit to insurance companies for reimbursement if services are covered.
Foundations’ dyslexia specialists will determine if an individual fits the classic dyslexia profile by reviewing all educational records, previous psychological and/or psycho-educational evaluation results, and conducting an in-person interview. If there is sufficient evidence to suggest that an individual fits the classic profile of dyslexia, we will then provide recommendations for tutoring. In some cases further evaluation may be needed; our practitioners will suggest next steps on a case-by-case basis.
Foundations’ dyslexia specialists will determine if an individual fits the classic dyslexia profile by reviewing all educational records, previous psychological and/or psycho-educational evaluation results, and conducting an in-person interview. In addition, we will use screening tools and standardized testing as part of the diagnostic process to determine if an individual fits the dyslexia profile and has specific weaknesses in the areas defined by research-based definitions of dyslexia.
Foundations’ dyslexia specialists will conduct a comprehensive screening to determine, with a high degree of accuracy, if an individual fits the classic profile of dyslexia.
We will provide a summary report of the screening results and recommendations as well as schedule a conference to review the results and recommendations with the parent, guardian or individual.
This level of evaluation may be needed if an individual has never had a psycho-educational evaluation, if an evaluation was completed more than two years ago, if ADHD is suspected, or if there is a history of any developmental delays, medical complications, or any other unusual factors that may interfere with an individual’s ability to learn.
During this comprehensive evaluation, Foundations will conduct a battery of standardized tests, which measure cognitive and academic achievement skills, and a complete clinical interview. The testing will take approximately three to six hours based on an individual’s abilities and needs. In addition, we will review any pertinent educational and medical records, as well as information provided by the individual and/or parent.
When applicable, a diagnosis will be given.
After testing is complete, a Foundations’ psychologist will interpret the test results and provide a comprehensive report with specific and thorough recommendations. A conference will also be scheduled to review the results and recommendations with the parent, guardian or individual.
Fee: $550 with additional amount to be determined based on the individual's specific needs
Our practitioners and tutors offer individualized tutoring and are well trained in the Barton Reading & Spelling System. This system is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is an approach recommended by the International Dyslexia Association.
Tutoring is available for children and adults after consultation, screening and/or evaluations have been completed.
Tutoring is conducted at least twice weekly and includes direct one-on-one instruction with each individual. Foundations’ tutors customize the pace of instruction to help students progress as quickly as they can, but as slowly as needed. Additionally, Foundations’ tutors provide ongoing instruction to students to help reduce their learning gaps as quickly as possible.
Fee: $55 per session or $400 for eight-session package
Foundations offers additional consultation to help children and parents prepare for meetings with teachers and to provide additional education to individuals or to family members as needed.
Such consultation is available anytime after screening and/or evaluations have been completed.
Fee: $150 per hour
Foundations may conduct progress monitoring at any time an individual using our services would like an updated evaluation regarding current achievement levels. The evaluation will take approximately one to two hours and a summary of the findings will be presented. A conference will also be scheduled to review the results and any updated recommendations with the parent, guardian or individual.
